[PODCAST] Maximizing Nonprofit Team Effectiveness in the Remote Work Era
Can I let you in on a secret about building successful remote and hybrid teams?
It's okay to admit you're not an expert.
In fact, letting go of the idea that you need to figure it out on your own or have all the answers is a huge strength here.
Join Alexander Lapa and me on the latest episode of his podcast, Agents of Nonprofit, for a practical conversation about how to explore the right remote, hybrid, and asynchronous working models for your nonprofit.
We cover:
The need for tailored approaches based on individual preferences and role requirements
Involving team members in shaping remote work policies and norms, advocating for an iterative approach to refine working models
The challenges of remote work, including communication, expectation setting, and productivity tracking
Balancing autonomy and accountability
I mention this in the episode, but my mom’s status as an early remote worker - starting in 1996 - shaped my perspective on the advantages of remote work for employers and their team members.
As a military spouse, it was hugely beneficial for my mom to be able to work from wherever my dad was stationed. The company she worked for retained her - including her excellent client management skills and incredible technical expertise - which drove revenue and retention for 20 additional years by enabling her to work remotely.
That's a huge lifetime value for both the team member and the employer, and it’s why experimenting with approaches that work for you organization is well worth the time, energy, and investment.
