Facilitating Critical Conversations for Nonprofit Executives & Boards

That feeling when you've just finished a successful on-site strategic retreat for a repeat client you love working with is magical. 🌟

LaFemina & Co. has the privilege of working with nonprofits and foundations doing important work throughout the U.S. and all around the world.

The executive teams and boards we partner with are often working remotely and from many different locations (and time zones!), so the majority of our facilitation work, training, advisory support, and coaching happens online.

This week was different.

For the third year in a row, I had the opportunity to facilitate an on-site retreat for a foundation board and staff.

β†’ We introduced The Six Types of Working Genius to help this combined team understand its strengths and how to maximize collaboration.

β†’ We brought in their voices and perspectives from our pre-retreat survey and spent time designing how the team will work together.

β†’ We built on the strategic identity and priorities work we've been doing the past two years, made some important decisions, and tested out new approaches.

I always tell clients - my goal isn't just that these two days feel good. My goal is that you carry forward the work we're doing here into how you make decisions and do your work throughout the year.

Two days out of the office, away from your family, in a different headspace can be a lot. Especially when we're talking about big, important, ambiguous topics that require us to think deeply and consider how we're best equipped to make the world a better place.

So at the end of a retreat, when I hear people say:
β†’ They feel heard and had the chance to discuss issues that are important to them,
β†’ They feel clear and focused on their organization's priorities,
β†’ They feel connected, energized and ready to implement what we've agreed to during this time together

I feel excited for them and know they'll use this moment to fuel meaningful relationships, work, and impact.

Weeks like this are also a great reminder - I really love what I do. πŸ’›

Developing long-term partnerships to support smart, caring leaders and fantastic organizations as they work to improve their communities and our world - what a gift to get to do this work.
